SWD update for August 18

Monday, August 18, 2014

I am still waiting for confirmation of a positive adult catch in Northern Nova Scotia.  This is extremely good news for the majority of blueberry growers in NS, but we still need to keep a close eye on traps, particularly on late harvest fields.

Last week saw the first low level catches in New Brunswick, but not in wild blueberry fields.

The Annapolis valley and the western end of the province are continuing to see increasing capture numbers and are Dr. Moreau is starting to find SWD larvae in different types of commercial fruit, at low levels.

I will be checking more traps early this week and will update again before the end of the week.
