1st Blightline post for 2014

It is still very early for monilinia, especially for central and eastern Nova Scotia, but it is important for farmers to start thinking about monitoring for floral bud development.  I have a feeling once things start to warm up, it will come quickly.

Remember once floral and vegetative buds reach the 40% F2 stage and an infection period is predicted, a fungicide application is recommended.  If you are using a product like (Topas, Jade, Mission or Funginex) you can make an application shortly after the infection period and get adequate kickback control.

Nothing is moving yet in western Nova Scotia, our earliest area in the province.

Check back next Tuesday to see the next update.
