Programs, meeting and new opportunities

Friday, March 11, 2016

The WBPANS winter meeting is next Saturday, March 19th at the Glengarry in Truro.  Nutrition break starts at 8:00 am, program starts at 8:45.

I will be giving a talk about land development and improvement.  This is timely, as DNR and NSDA have just released opportunities for growers who are looking to expand or improve their exisiting operations.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on these opportunities.

DNR has re-released the Crown land lease request for proposal.  It comes with an application template which should make the process easier and it is more appealing, with a lower annual lease rate and smaller parcels of land.  Click on the link if you are interested in expanding your operation and would like to consider a long term crown lease.

Also, NSDA has just released the Lowbush Blueberry Development Program 2016-2017.  It is very similar to last years program but NSDA was able to release it much earlier this year to allow for spring development and land improvement activities.  Click on the link below to see if it could be a fit for your business plans.
