5th Monilinia Update

Friday, April 29, 2016

We have been having unseasonably cold nights and mornings which is slowing development even though things are very dry and it has been sunny.

We are looking at a sunny and warm weekend with temperatures in the low teens.  Next week looks to be bringing rain on several days.  Growers who have early developing fields should be preparing to make their first applications next week, if their fields are beyond the 40% F2 stage.

Plant development stages from around the province area as follows:

All of South West Nova is beyond the threshold stage and growers should be treating based on infection periods.  Remember treatments will protect buds for up to 10 days, provided the buds were open at the time of application.

Stewart Hill (Musq) - 36% F2
Glenmore - 21% F2

Kemptown - 13.4 % F2
Earltown - 14.5 % F2
Corktown - 13.7 % F2

Baseline Rd. - near Londonderry - 38% F2

Oxford (wednesday) - 18% F2 - 1 nearly mature cup
Athol - 18% F2
Harrison hill - 19% F2
Neuville Lake - 27% F2
Canaan Mt. 12 % F2
Kennel field in Westchester - 6% F2
Truemanville - 9 % F2
Amherst (Bacon field) - 8% - F2 1 pin 1 mature
