2nd Monilinia Update for Nova Scotia

Friday, April 27, 2018

Fruit buds are really starting to move with the wetness of yesterday and the heat of today.  I have reports from a couple of more fields today.

Glenmore (Halifax county) - 12% F2
South Branch (Colchester County) - 23% F2 early field
Debert - 17.9% F2

I was in a couple of fields today and many fruit buds are not quite at the F2 stage but they are swelling and are close to opening.

Only very early fields would be approaching the 40-50% V2 F2 stage at this point.  However, we are expecting some warmish rain over the weekend, followed by warm sunny conditions through the middle of next week. I expect most early season fields will be at a susceptible stage by the end of next week.

If you have an early to mid season field you should be monitoring for fruit bud development at this point.

Remember if you are above the 40-50% threshold you should consider treatment before the next forecasted wet period or immediately after.

The next update, which will include more sites will be late in the day on Tuesday May 1st.
